Cambrios

Wet coating process materials for display manufacturing

Cambrios is an electronic materials company focused on the display industry. We use nanostructured materials that can be deployed with existing manufacturing equipment and production lines to achieve enhanced performance of display devices and components at lower production costs. The company’s first product will replace, for many applications, the industry standard material indium tin oxide (ITO) through its ability to create a wet-processed, directly patternable transparent, conductive film. Cambrios is formulating its material in collaboration with leading manufacturers of flat panel displays, touch screens and thin film solar devices. Subsequent products will leverage this technology to produce other functional films for display and other thin films applications. The company expects to start selling its first product, coated polyester film for use by touch screen manufacturers, in 2007.

The company is led by Dr. Michael Knapp, CEO, Dr. Hash Pakbaz, VP of Business Development, Dr. Xina Quan, VP of Research & Development, and Dr. Michael Spaid, VP of New Products. Its product development programs are conducted in collaboration with the major touch panel and liquid crystal display manufacturers of the world. In 2006, the company was named “Most Promising New Technology” by EE Times Magazine.

Cambrios was founded in 2003 and is located in Mountain View, California. In-Q-Tel initially invested in Cambrios in December 2004. For more information about Cambrios, please visit www.cambrios.com.
