AdaptivEnergy

Leading innovator of advanced Ruggedized Laminated Piezo (RLP™) actuators

AdaptivEnergy is the leading innovator of miniature piezo actuators and generators that are replacing traditional motors and solenoids where small size and low power are required. Like the transistor replacing the vacuum tube, the smart materials used in AdaptivEnergy’s RLP™ products are smaller and lighter than the magnets and copper coils in electromagnetic devices. This enables the miniaturization of products using pumps, valves, regulators, fans and electricity generation in motion capture energy harvesting devices.

AdaptivEnergy’s RLP™ actuators are off-the-shelf ready to be integrated into customer designs for liquid and gas pumps, liquid and gas valves, regulators or vibratory fans. They enable the development of fluidic backplanes that replace tubes, fluidic connectors and discrete fluidic components in the same way that printed circuit boards replaced discrete wires and soldering. The RLP™ can be embedded directly into a manifold to move and control fluid or gas. RLP™’s are manufactured in multiple locations in the U.S.

AdaptivEnergy’s LPD-125 product is a complete liquid pump that uses the RLP™ to move up to 250 ml/min of fluid.  AdaptivEnergy reference designs are also available for liquid pumps, valves and fans.

AdaptivEnergy’s Joule-Thief™ product line provides increased battery runtime, up to complete battery replacement solutions. These eliminate the need for battery maintenance or eliminate batteries altogether. They are a true clean and green energy alternative. Specific Joule-Thief™ versions are available for GPS automotive, trailer tracking, handheld consumer devices, and industrial switching applications. Joule-Thief™ can be purchased configured with outputs for AC, DC, or battery trickle charge outputs, and/or with an integrated re-chargeable battery.

AdaptivEnergy is a privately held company based in Hampton, Virginia. In-Q-Tel initially invested in AdaptivEnergy in October 2006.  For more information about AdaptivEnergy, please visit www.adaptivenergy.com
